History and Backround
P.V.Nicolaou Sharpening Center LTD was incorporated in Cyprus in 1996 as a limited liability company in accordance with provisions of the Cyprus Companies Law Cap.113.
The principal activities of the company are the trading and sharpening of woodworking tools and the provision of technical services to furniture manufacturers and carpenters based in Cyprus.
The company was founded in 1973 by Mr. Vassos Nicolaou, who was the owner of a carpenter shop based in Limassol. After a substantial loss of his business caused by a fire, Mr. Vassos started his own sharpening center, being the first shop in Limassol of its kind.
He started the business with a small customer portfolio, providing sharpening services for a limited type of woodworking tools.
In 1979 Mr. Periclis Nicolaou, son of Mr. Vassos, joined the company with the view to expand the customer portfolio of the company and enter into new activities such as the trading of saw blades and other woodworking tools. He also made the decision to invest in new machinery, which would allow them to sharpen a wider range of tools. This investment contributed significantly to the expansion of the customer portfolio, as new customers and large furniture factories were attracted to the quality and short time of service provided by the company.
During the decade of the 1990s, the business was registered as a limited liability company and continued its growth steadily and slowly. Thereafter the company acquired new units of sharpening machinery and imported larger volumes of woodworking tools for trading purposes.
In 2012 Mr. Kyriakos Nicolaou, son of Mr. Periclis, joined the company after completing his studies in computer science in the United Kingdom.
Since then, the company has upscaled its business accross the whole island, maintaining a weekly delivery service across the island, and it has acquired new state-of-the-art CNC 5- and 6-axis machines for regrinding saw blades, knives, tools, and bandsaw blades, as well as a modern bandsaw blade welding station.

Also, the company has secured dealerships with some of the most significant manufacturers of cutting tools and adhesives, including ITA Tools, Stehle, Dimar, WPW, Freud, Faba, AKE, Amana, Titebond and many others.
Today, the company operates with five employees and is well-established and recognized within its industry, seeking to grow its operations even further.
